Common issues:
Your last name contains a Jr., Sr., III. Make sure to include that in your last name.
Examples: John O'Reilly Jr. would need to use O'Reilly Jr
Verification:
You must enter a valid email address to receive a verification link. Once you have clicked the verification link, your Last Name, SSN and Email address will be issued credentials to use the SMIS system.
Gov Email Addresses must end in .GOV, BIA.EDU, BIE.EDU or HASKELL.EDU
You will have 30 minutes from the time your verification email is sent to click the link embedded in the email. After that, the verification code is deactivated and you will be need a new verification email.
">As of 10/01/2019 the SMIS system requires a valid Dept. of the Interior (DOI) email address. If you do not have a DOI email address and you have been involved in a safety incident, notify your supervisor or safety manager to act on your behalf to report the incident.
